Story

A squid floats against a deep black background, its translucent body dotted with yellow-orange spots, tentacles trailing outward in bright color. The dark surface makes the creature stand out sharply, its form rendered with careful attention to texture and light. This piece was made with acrylic on black paper in 2013. Alexis Rockman, an American painter born in 1962, works within the pop art movement.
