Story

A dense cluster of tall buildings rises along the New York City skyline, with a bridge spanning the water and a steamboat passing below. The black and white photograph captures the city's industrial energy through contrasts of light and shadow. Alfred Stieglitz (1864–1946), an American photographer associated with the Photo-Secession and straight photography, also worked as a gallerist and exhibition curator during his career.
