Story

Weeping willows lean over the edge of a still lake, framed by forested hills and a sweep of cloudy sky. Soft greens, blues, and whites blend across the scene, giving the water and foliage a quiet, breathing quality. The piece is rendered in pastel and chalk on paper by Arthur Bowen Davies (1862–1928), an American artist associated with the Ashcan School.
