Story
A country lane stretches into the distance, its surface whitened by frost, flanked by leafless trees and leading toward a cluster of distant buildings under a soft, pale winter sky. The composition captures a quiet rural moment, with the bare branches and chilled ground suggesting the stillness of a cold morning. This oil painting, titled The Road to Versailles, Louveciennes: Morning Frost, was created in 1871 by Camille Pissarro and is held at the Dallas Museum of Art. Pissarro, who lived from 1830 to 1903, worked within the Impressionist movement. Notice how the pale sky seems to blend into the frosted ground, softening the line between earth and air.
