Story
A wide meadow stretches toward low wooded hills, its surface broken by winding blue channels of water. Golden grasses fill the open ground beneath a sky heavy with clouds, giving the scene a quiet, open feel. The piece is rendered in pastel on canvas, completed in 1891. Childe Hassam (1859–1935) was an American painter associated with Impressionism.
