Story

A quiet waterside view unfolds in muted light, with wooden fences lining the shore, trees standing softly in the distance, and a pale sun mirrored across still water. The scene is rendered with a gentle, blurred atmosphere rather than sharp detail. Painted in oil on pulpboard in 1925, the work comes from Clarice Beckett (1887–1935), an Australian painter whose approach reflects Tonalism.
