Story

A pond stretches across the canvas, dotted with pink water lilies resting on green pads. Willow branches hang over the surface, and the water holds reflections of blue and purple light, blurring the line between sky and pool. This oil on canvas was painted in 1916 by Claude Monet, a French painter associated with Impressionism. The piece came to the Musée Marmottan Monet as a gift from Michel Monet.
