Story
Winding curved lines link rounded forms across the surface, built from circular markings and flowing shapes rendered in earthy terracotta, brown, cream, and touches of blue. The composition reads like a woven network spreading over the whole canvas. Made in 1980 using synthetic polymer paint on canvas, the piece comes from Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri (1932–2002), an Australian First Nation painter also known for Warlugulong. It entered the National Gallery of Victoria through the Felton Bequest.
Where it works
