Story

Overlapping blocks and jagged slivers of color break across a pale backdrop, mixing red, yellow, blue, black, and white in an irregular geometric arrangement. Made with oil and tempera on canvas in 1955, the piece came into the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice in 1976.
