House with Shingle Roof (Old House II)

Story

A weathered two-story house rises under a dark, shingled roof, its pale walls set against a cluster of leafless trees. The composition leans on earthy browns, tans, and greens, giving the structure a stark, isolated presence. Painted in oil in 1915, the work belongs to Egon Schiele (1890–1918), an Austrian artist associated with Expressionism, whose piece is held at the Leopold Museum.

Where it works
