Illustration of Actiniae

Story

Clusters of sea anemones ring a central pool, their forms rendered in jewel tones set against earthier browns and ochres. Tentacles spread in radiating patterns, each creature distinct in color and shape, arranged with careful symmetry across the composition. This illustration dates to 1904, created by Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919), a German biologist and botanist whose scientific work combined close observation with decorative arrangement of natural forms.

Where it works

A warm-toned botanical study suited to libraries and media rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
