Story

A cluster of yellow tulips rests in a woven basket, set upon a chair that stands out against a shadowed backdrop. The pale blossoms catch the eye amid the surrounding darkness, giving the arrangement a quiet, isolated presence. Rendered in oil, the piece reflects the hand of Félix Vallotton (1865–1925), a Swiss artist associated with Les Nabis, as well as Art Nouveau and Impressionism, whose work included Intimités.
