Story

A rounded dish heaped with red strawberries and their green leaves sits atop a pale cloth, set before a background of orange and brown tones. The painting was made in oil in 1921 by Félix Vallotton (1865–1925), a Swiss and French artist whose work connects to Les Nabis, Impressionism, and Art Nouveau. He was also active as an art critic and draftsperson, with Intimités among his notable works.
