A Grey Day

Story

Tall, shadowed tree trunks rise through a quiet forest, their dark forms framing a winding path that curves into the distance. Autumn foliage spreads across the scene in warm browns, soft yellows, and lingering greens, suggesting a cool, overcast afternoon among the woods. Frank V. Dudley, an American painter working in oil on canvas, completed this landscape in 1956. The work entered the collection through the Governor's Contingency Fund.

Where it works

A warm-toned forest scene suited to living rooms and studies, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
