Story
Jagged planes of yellow, green, red, blue, and brown interlock across the surface, their edges overlapping as though broken apart and reassembled into a dense, angular field. There is no clear subject, only a rhythm of shifting color and shape. The piece was made in oil in 1913 by Franz Marc (1880–1916), a German painter associated with Expressionism, known also for Blue Horse I.
