Story
A red fox takes shape from sharp, angular planes, its body fractured into geometric facets set against muted green, yellow, and brown tones. The composition favors fragmented structure over naturalism. Franz Marc painted this work, titled The Fox, in 1913. Marc, who lived from 1880 to 1916 and held German citizenship, worked within the Expressionism movement, also known for his piece Blue Horse I.
