Story

Tall trees stand along a riverbank, their green foliage rising against rolling hills in the distance, while a blue sky filled with white clouds stretches overhead. The scene is rendered in oil, completed in 1870 by Frederic Bazille (1841–1870), a French painter. His work drew on Barbizon school traditions and French Realism while also connecting to the emerging Impressionism of his time.
