Story

A snow-covered peak looms over a tropical scene filled with palm trees, a winding river, and dense greenery rendered in shades of green and blue. This oil painting was completed in 1858 by Frederic Edwin Church, an American painter who lived from 1826 to 1900. He worked within the Hudson River school, a movement reflected in his attention to dramatic natural scenery across varied terrain.
