Story
Rushing water tumbles over Niagara Falls, its white foam set against dark rock ledges beneath a clouded, earth-toned sky. Frederic Edwin Church painted this scene in oil in 1857. Church, an American painter associated with the Hudson River school, captured the force of the falls on canvas. The piece entered its collection through a museum purchase supported by a gallery fund.
