Early Marsh-Orchid, European purple lousewort, and Little Yellow rattle

Story

Three flowering plants appear side by side against a plain cream ground, their purple and yellow blooms rising from green stems and leaves, with root systems carefully traced beneath the soil line. The illustration identifies each specimen: an early marsh-orchid, a European purple lousewort, and a little yellow rattle. Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), a Swedish painter associated with abstract art, rendered these botanical studies with precise attention to form and structure.
