Story

Linked orbs and plantlike shapes drift across the paper, rendered in green, gray, white, and pink, with thin lines radiating outward to connect the forms into a loose web. The piece was made using watercolor, gouache, graphite, and metallic paint in 1915. Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), a Swedish painter associated with abstract art, created it; the image is held courtesy of the Hilma af Klint Foundation's collection in Stockholm.
