Story

A bright red lobster anchors a crowded tabletop scene, surrounded by heaps of fruit, scattered oysters, and gleaming silver vessels, all set against a dark background and a draped cloth. The composition is rendered in oil. Jan Davidsz de Heem, born in 1606 and died in 1684, worked as a Dutch painter and botanical illustrator within the Dutch Republic and Habsburg Netherlands, also known for Garland of Fruit and Flowers.
