Story
Tall eucalyptus trees rise along a riverbank, their trunks framing a quiet scene where Indigenous figures move among fallen logs and earthy, green-toned brush. The composition centers on the Ouse River in Van Diemen's Land, with the natural setting dominating the human presence. Painted in oil in 1838, the work is held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Its maker, John Glover (1767–1849), was a British-Australian landscape painter.
