Story
Alice sits at a crowded table, joined by the Hatter, the Hare, and a sleepy Dormouse, caught mid-gathering in a cramped, cluttered setting full of teacups and odd expressions. The scene comes from an 1865 engraving reproduced in black and white, made to accompany Lewis Carroll's story. John Tenniel (1820–1914), a British artist who worked as a caricaturist and graphic artist, also created the notable illustration Dropping the Pilot.
