Story

Wide horizontal bands stack across the canvas, magenta pressing against dark brown, with orange glowing beneath, each zone separated by faint seams, all held inside a pale gray edge. The composition stays untitled, with no record here of its medium or year. Mark Rothko (1903–1970) worked within abstract expressionism, and among his recognized works are No. 1, No. 10, and No. 2.
