Bathers and Strollers at Marblehead

Story

A packed shoreline fills the scene, with men and women in old-fashioned clothing gathered near small beach cabins while sailboats drift along the water. Soft yellows, blues, and earthy browns blend across the crowd and sand. The piece reflects Maurice Brazil Prendergast's work within Post-impressionism and the Ashcan School, an American painter and draftsperson born in 1858 and died in 1924, also known for Autumn.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and kitchens, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
