Story

A small bird with yellow plumage and blue-tinged wings rests on a branch of cherry blossoms, their pink petals mixed with slender green needle-like leaves, set against a plain light backdrop. The image comes from a hand-colored engraving. It reflects the work of Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1731–1807), a French botanist whose interests also extended to entomology and law.
