Naïve Art (Primitivism)
These paintings favor flat perspective, plain outlines, and simplified figures over polished realism, giving portraits, river views, and still life a direct, almost storybook quality. Children, couples, and everyday riverside scenes appear with the same unguarded stillness, as in "Girl in a Red Dress" by Ammi Phillips. Color stays plain and unblended, with little shading to soften the forms.
