Story
A single sailboat drifts across hazy water, framed by snow-topped peaks and tall trees rendered in golden and brown hues. The composition balances calm water against the looming mountain in the distance. This piece was painted in oil on panel in 1870 by Albert Bierstadt, a German-American artist associated with the Hudson River school. It is held at the Fenimore Art Museum.
