Praying Hands

Story

Two hands rise together, palms meeting and fingers pointed upward in a gesture of prayer, drawn with careful linear precision against a muted background. The study was made in brush and ink heightened with white on blue tinted paper in 1508. It comes from Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528), a German artist associated with the German Renaissance, who also created Adam and Eve.

Where it works
