Story
A rain-soaked plaza glistens at night, its damp stones catching the glow of lit buildings and the dark silhouettes of leafless trees, all captured in black and white. Alfred Stieglitz made this photomechanical print in 1898, titled Reflections at Night, New York. An American photographer associated with the Photo-Secession and with straight photography, Stieglitz brought a painter's eye to the city street. The piece is held in the Library of Congress, within the Prints and Photographs Division collection.
