Story
Yellow angular shapes float against an olive ground, set beside dark green curving forms and a soft heart-shaped silhouette, creating a loose abstract arrangement. The sheet combines mixed media and watercolor on wove paper, dating from 1942. It belongs to a portfolio of twenty-four sketches by Arthur Dove, an American painter and draftsperson who lived from 1880 to 1946. The piece came to the museum as a gift from William C. Dove.
