Cremorne pastoral

Story

A green hillside slopes down toward a blue bay, dotted with eucalyptus trees and framed by distant mountains in a quiet pastoral scene. Painted in oil in 1895, the work was made by Arthur Streeton (1867–1943), an Australian artist associated with the Heidelberg School. It entered the Art Gallery of New South Wales through purchase in the same year, where it remains a record of that landscape tradition.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and bedrooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
