The Creek

Story

A winding creek cuts through open country, its banks of bare earth exposed beneath scattered trees. Cattle graze along the water's edge while rolling hills stretch toward a sky mixing cloud and clear blue, rendered in warm earthen tones. This oil painting was made in 1925 by Arthur Streeton (1867–1943), an Australian artist associated with the Heidelberg School, and belongs to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
