Story
A windowsill holds pots of red flowers, their blooms set against a view of a blue mountain, a house, and open landscape beyond. August Macke painted this scene in oil in 1911, working within the German Expressionist movement. The piece entered the Milwaukee Art Museum as a gift. Macke, born in 1887 and died in 1914, held German citizenship and is also known for his work Gartentor.
