Story
Rugged desert forms rise and fold across the canvas, rendered in yellows, browns, and dark blues set against a hazy, muted ground, suggesting nocturnal terrain stretching toward the horizon. The irregular shapes blur the line between recognizable landscape and abstraction, giving the scene a quiet, otherworldly weight. Painted in oil on canvas on plywood panel in 1935, the work belongs to American painter Augustus Vincent Tack (1870–1949), whose piece is held at The Phillips Collection.
