The Harbor at Lorient

Story

A woman dressed in white sits along a dock, gazing over a harbor crowded with sailing ships, nearby buildings, and water painted in soft blues and greens. The scene carries a quiet, muted atmosphere across the whole composition. Berthe Morisot created this oil painting in 1869, working within the Impressionism movement in France. The piece came into the National Gallery of Art through the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Collection.
