Lotus Lilies

Story

A pair of women in pale dresses rest together in a small wooden boat, surrounded by yellow water lilies in full bloom, one of them holding up a green parasol against the light. The scene is rendered in oil, completed in 1888. Charles Courtney Curran, an American painter associated with Impressionism, brought a soft, sunlit touch to this quiet moment on the water. The painting is part of the Daniel J. Terra Collection, now held at the Terra Foundation for American Art.
