Story

A field of red and yellow blooms spreads beneath a pale sky, with green foliage mixed among the petals and loose, visible brushwork throughout. The flowers seem to shift under light rather than appearing in sharp detail. This piece, titled Poppies, Appledore, was made by Childe Hassam (1859–1935), an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism.
