Story

A Gothic church tower rises above a Paris street, where small figures move beneath a sky heavy with clouds. In the foreground, patches of yellow blossoms brighten the pavement, giving the scene a quiet, lived-in feel despite the dim light. This oil painting was made in 1897 by Childe Hassam, an American painter and printmaker associated with Impressionism (1859–1935).
