Story
A figure dressed in blue walks a garden path, enclosed by tall red and white gladioli blooms and lush greenery. Claude Monet painted this scene in oil in 1876, working within the Impressionist movement in France. The piece entered the Detroit Institute of Arts through a city purchase. Monet, who lived from 1840 to 1926, also created the notable work Impression, Sunrise.
