Story

A quiet pond stretches across the canvas, dotted with white and yellow blossoms resting on green pads that drift over blue water, with more pads fading toward the far edge. This is an oil painting completed in 1897 by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French artist associated with Impressionism, whose depictions of light on water remain central to his output.
