Story
Pale blossoms drift across lavender and white water, their forms softened by rippling reflections and muted color. The surface seems to blur light and shadow into one gentle plane. Claude Monet painted this scene in oil in 1917, rendering the water lilies with a quiet, atmospheric touch. Monet, who lived from 1840 to 1926 and was French, worked within Impressionism, also known for Haystacks.
