Rouen Cathedral In the Afternoon (The Gate In Full Sun)

Story

The facade of Rouen Cathedral rises in soft whites, pale blues, and golden browns, its carved stonework dissolving under shifting daylight. The ornate gate glows warmly against cooler shadowed recesses, giving the structure a shimmering, almost dissolving texture. This piece, titled Rouen Cathedral In the Afternoon (The Gate In Full Sun), was created by Claude Monet (1840–1926), a French painter associated with Impressionism, also known for Haystacks and Impression, Sunrise.

Where it works

Cool-toned artwork suited to living rooms and hallways, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
