Story

A girl appears in a frilled white lace dress and matching bonnet, turned at an angle against a deep, dark backdrop. Her stance is calm, with the bonnet framing her face and the lace catching soft light across her shoulders. This oil work was painted in 1895 by E. Phillips Fox, an Australian artist of the Impressionist movement who lived from 1865 to 1915 and also created Nasturtiums. The piece belongs to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
