Story

A woman dressed in white stands with a small child on a stretch of sandy shore, a wooden chair set beside them, while other figures linger near the water in the distance. The scene is rendered in oil, completed in 1909. The piece comes from E. Phillips Fox (1865–1915), an Australian painter associated with Impressionism, whose notable work Nasturtiums also survives.
