Story
A quiet stream winds through dense greenery, bordered by thick trees and brush. Beyond the water, open fields stretch toward a pale, soft sky, giving the scene a calm, pastoral feel. The painting is rendered in oil on canvas, created in 1870. It is the work of Edward Mitchell Bannister, a painter born in 1828 and died in 1901, who held American and Canadian citizenship, and whose piece is held at the SCAD Museum of Art.
