Story

A slender young tree with scattered green leaves rises above purple and blue mountains near a stretch of water, set against a plain cream ground. The composition is rendered in watercolor and pencil on paper, created in 1912. The artist, Egon Schiele (1890–1918), was Austrian and worked within Expressionism, also known for Seated Woman with Bent Knees.
