Story

A massive male figure sits with his back to the viewer, his bulk framed against a dark night sky where a crescent moon glows faintly above him. The sepia tones give the scene a hushed, shadowed quality. This aquatint was made in 1818 by Francisco de Goya, a Spanish artist associated with Romanticism, whose career spanned draftsmanship and etching alongside printmaking.
