Story

Waves roll onto a sandy shore while cliffs rise along the left edge of the composition, under a sky filled with white clouds against soft blue. The palette favors subdued earth tones mixed with cooler blue hues, suggesting the aftermath of a storm along the coastline. Painted in oil on canvas in 1948, this piece comes from Frank V. Dudley (1868–1957), an American landscape painter.
